Welcome to the official Website for the Shire of Mountain's Gate. We participate in "The Current Middle Ages" as members of the Society for Creative Anachronism a non-profit educational organization commonly known around the world as the SCA. Mountain's Gate is within the Principality of Cynagua which is, in turn, within The Kingdom of the West. We are located in the El Dorado County area of the Sierra Foothills. We are artists, Heavy Weapon Fighters, jewelers who work with local gold, archers, cooks who do extensive research to bring us the finest in Medieval cuisine. We grow some of our own feast food and spin our own wool. Our blacksmith makes knives and spear tips. We make wine with local grapes and mead from local honey. There are costumers, and needle-workers of the Renaissance and Medieval fashion. We even have War Horses in training! The list is almost endless.

We are happy to welcome people with similar interests; if you enjoy history or like learning new things there will be crafts and/or skills that you might enjoy. The underlying philosophy of Mountain's Gate is FUN! We are a family oriented group. We encourage you to contact us. Mountain's Gate enjoys one of the most beautiful areas in the State and Placerville has wonderful city parks and recreational areas available for family outings anytime!
